Description

We are in search of a skilled Staff Accountant to join our team in Tucson, Arizona. The role involves coordinating accounting functions and programs, preparing financial analyses and reports, and maintaining and reconciling balance sheet and general ledger accounts. This role offers a contract to hire employment opportunity in the non-profit industry.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate accounting functions and programs ensuring efficiency

• Assist in account reconciliation and month-end close

• Develop revenue projections and forecast expenditure to optimize budget utilization

• Assist in preparing and monitoring budgets to keep financial plans on track

• Maintain and reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts for accurate financial reporting

• Assist with annual audit preparations and investigate and resolve audit findings

• Address account discrepancies and issues of non-compliance promptly

• Contribute to the development of new or amended accounting systems, programs, and procedures

• Perform other accounting duties and support junior staff as required or assigned.

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Staff Accountant or at least one year experience in Accounting

• A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Demonstrable proficiency in financial reporting and general ledger functions.

• Practical knowledge of journal entries and month-end close procedures.

• Proficiency in account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation.

• Excellent analytical skills, with a strong attention to detail.

• Strong organizational and time management abilities.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• A strong ethical framework and professional approach to handling confidential information.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
