HP Inc. Supplier Quality Engineer in Tijuana, Mexico

Job Summary

  • This role is responsible for adopting a quality-focused method by defining quality metrics for component production and conducting frequent supplier quality assessments. The role troubleshoots defects, records feedback, and offers resolutions. The role applies basic foundation of a function's principles to focus to drive process enhancements and create mitigation plans. The role collaborates with suppliers to improve quality and lower costs, and contributes to identifying potential suppliers aligned with business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Supports portions of the global engineering relationship with a supplier of external hardware, components, materials, or services for the development and manufacturing of a product or service line.

  • Assumes a quality-driven approach by establishing metrics for component production quality, conducting regular supplier quality reviews to uphold the highest standards.

  • Develops understanding of and relationship with outside suppliers and internal product development and manufacturing teams.

  • Offers key assistance in identifying suitable potential suppliers aligned with business objectives, embodying a commitment to continuous improvement and fostering a strategic approach to supplier engagement.

  • Tests, troubleshoots, and debugs defective product units, sub-assemblies, and process steps based on established testing plans; validates testing parameters and summarizes test results for product to identify supplier quality issues.

  • Tracks and records customer feedback and results of manufacturing, test, and quality assurance processes for product.

  • Supports the escalations stemming from part, supplier, or client issues, offering timely resolutions and mitigations.

  • Works with suppliers to implement specified changes to product or process to reduce defects, improve quality, and lower costs.

  • Drives internal system and process enhancements, aiming to enhance overall supplier performance across diverse categories.

Education & Experience Recommended

  • Four-year Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.

  • Typically has 0-2 years of work experience, preferably in purchasing/ sourcing, planning, project management, compliance and quality assurance, supplier relationship management, or a related field.
