The Department of Pharmacy has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Curriculum Manager (Manager Of Program Operations (E S 9)). This person is responsible for managing the design and implementation of the Department’s didactic and skills curricula and associated educational technology. This position is the staff lead for all course support across the Department and responsible for supervising 2 Program Operations Specialist FTE.

Key responsibilities include managing all aspects of course setup and instruction in Department courses; triaging student and instructor requests and needs; training instructors on use of technology and equipment; working with the Department Faculty and School Curriculum Committee to manage new course and course change applications.

This position reports to the Department Administrator.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 40%: Curriculum Management

  • Work with faculty to prepare new course and course change applications in the University’s Curriculum Management System (e.g. Kuali).

  • Primary point-of-contact/liaison between faculty and registrar’s office, expert on course change/management process and policy.

  • Work closely with School Curricular Support Staff to ensure alignment between Department and School for PharmD, Undergraduate, and Graduate Courses.

  • Oversee the Department’s Teaching and Learning Programs in coordination with the Department Chair.

  • Oversee operations of DOP Student Course Evaluations and Faculty Peer Teaching Evaluations Processes.

  • Assists Department Administrator and Chair in course budget management, expenditure forecasts, quarterly course budgets.30%: Program Leadership and Curriculum Operations Management

  • Lead all aspects of academic support operations, including budget management, policy development, process implementation, and quality improvement.

  • Provide operational oversight and leadership for the area of academic support within the Department of Pharmacy.

  • Responsible for the management of all academic support and student fee budgets in collaboration with department leadership, which includes monitoring the status, ensuring the budget is aligned with course activities and appropriation of fees.

  • Oversee the development, management, revision, and implementation of policies and procedures related to academic support.

  • Drive strategic initiatives for program enhancement, leveraging stakeholder input and data analysis.

  • Provide day-to-day support for academic support as needed to fill in for academic support program managers.

  • Provides oversight of operational and administrative support for faculty/instructors.

  • Oversees creating, updating, and maintaining course websites in Canvas.

  • Identifies areas of improvement and makes recommendations for changes in classroom technology and operational needs.

  • Oversee space scheduling for DOP teaching/learning related needs, often working in coordination with SOP curricular support staff.

  • Responsible for management of process for scheduling guest speakers and providing parking support to guest speakers.

  • In coordination with SOP curriculum support staff, oversee the time schedule process for department courses to ensure registration reflects appropriate enrollment numbers.

  • Oversight of BPLC EH&S Inspection preparation and response, in coordination with BPLC Director and BPLC Staff (Program Operations Specialist and Chemical Hygiene Officer).15%: Human Resource Management

  • Lead Department Curriculum Coordinator.

  • Manage two Curriculum Program Operations Specialists, focused on Didactic and BPLC Operations, respectively.

  • Lead search processes and make hiring recommendations, as needed.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and implement performance management plans, as needed.

  • Supervise work, monitor workflow, and provide mentoring.10%: Training, Coordination and Communication

  • Assist Faculty with offering professional training, community outreach, and continuing education (i.e. coordination of events and documentation for faculty).

  • Assist with the Department’s Teaching and Learning Programs by maintaining ongoing communication with School and University Curriculum Committees and Curricular Support Teams.

  • Oversee process for tracking compliance with academic-related training requirements for faculty in coordination with the Department Chair.

  • Manages information flow between full- and part-time faculty; volunteer/adjunct/affiliate instructors and clinical specialists; students; alumni and potential donors; and other department staff members at the college/school and university.5%: Learning Technology Support

  • Oversee creating, updating, and maintaining course websites in Canvas.

  • Identifies areas of improvement and makes recommendations for changes in classroom technology needs.

  • Gather and make appropriate training on learning technology available to faculty/instructors and academic support program managers.

  • Oversee support of department faculty in implementing learning technology to support course assessment. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • 4-5 years relevant experience.

  • BA in Higher Education Administration, Information Sciences, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Expertise in, or ability to quickly understand and implement complex theory and practice of didactic curricula as related to the advanced training of clinical providers.

  • Advanced computer skills, particularly with systems and applications (word-processing, database, Excel spreadsheet, presentation, web-publishing, and learning technology).

  • Excellent communication - both written and verbal.

  • Ability to organize, prioritize and multitask with little direction.

  • Must have the ability to complete tasks working both independently and with others.

  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Requires ability to lift up to 40 lbs.

  • Must have current driver's license. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working in a pharmacy or training as a pharmacy technician.

  • Experience with simulation equipment and other educational/learning technologies.

  • Experience with Canvas learning management system and UW purchasing systems.
