Job Summary and Qualifications

Provides leadership, fosters teamwork, and a collaborative environment. Acts in a professional manner and promotes the HCA’s company and facility values and commitment to the Code of Conduct. Functions as a resource for staff members and provides education as necessary. Responsible for acting as resource and shadowing of StaRN’s and other nursing staff as needed, to help facilitate the delivery of safe, quality, patient-centered care. Promotes and acts as resource to StaRN’s and other nursing staff, to provide guidance and education on the hospital’s standard of nursing practice, nursing policies and procedures to ensure they meet legal, and all accrediting and regulatory agency requirements.

Actively rounds on nursing unit; continuously observing, assessing nursing educational needs and that the patient clinical needs are being met. Utilize skills of observation, assessment to assess care, provide feedback on nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention and evaluation of care of the ill, injured or infirm. Facilitate the promotion of wellness, maintenance of health, and prevention of illness of the patient.

Willingly shares knowledge/expertise and assists co-workers. Fosters teamwork and contributes to achievement of team goals. Acts as a resource for StaRN’s and nursing staff as appropriate, by providing feedback, education, and coaching, mentoring, shadowing, with appropriate escalation concerning nursing skills, patient care, policies, processes, and equipment. Review of care with StaRN’s and nursing staff, to include, disease processes, but not limited to core measures, stroke and sepsis. May attend rapid responses and codes, to observe, provide feedback, and debrief, facilitate education, direction, coaching before, during and after the rapid response or code, as indicated.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

  • NIH Stroke Scale must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date

  • PALS Pediatric Adv Life Supt must be obtained within 1 year of employment start date

  • Registered Nurse

  • Current State of Virginia, Registered Nurse or ARNP license or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active VA RN license required within 90 days of hire.

  • Associate Degree

  • Minimum 2 years previous RN experience

  • Preferred: 1 year leadership experience (Charge, Shift Coordinator, Council member, etc.)
