Roscommon County Road Commission Engineering Technician in Prudenville, Michigan
General Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Engineer, performs a variety of construction, inspection and technical engineering tasks such as testing and inspection associated with road and bridge construction projects.
Examples of Duties:
- Surveying using GPS, transit, level, and other necessary equipment.
- Construction inspection, including inspection of work by contractors or Road Commission employees in the construction and maintenance of roads and bridges.
- Material testing and inspection of commonly used road building materials.
- Engineering design and estimating for various road projects.
- Computer operations using MDOT computerized project record keeping system, AutoCad Civil 3D, Roadsoft, MERL, and Microsoft Office software.
- Complete traffic counts on county roadways.
- May be required to attend classes and seminars for additional education and/or maintenance of current certifications.

- Extended work days and work weeks are occasionally required.
$19.00 - $23.00 per hour
Essential Job Elements and Physical Demands (ADA):
Physical Mobility: Ability to walk extended distances and climb stairs or ramps to access Road Commission and other work related locations and facilities.
Vision & Sight: Ability to read instructions, directions and similar written information in letters, memorandum, forms and other documents.
Hearing & Speaking: Ability to converse orally with standard telephones and radios to receive and communicate information to employees and the public.
Ability/Movement: Ability to lift, push, pull and manipulate tools, equipment, supplies and other objects often weighing upwards of 80 pounds.
