ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (PLTX)

Bowhead seeks an Electrical Engineer to join our team in Plano, TX as part of the Manufacturing and Products Group.Bowhead’s Manufacturing and Products Group located in Plano, TX maintains a robust, closed-loop procurement process with leading distributors and manufacturers providing a solution to exceed our customers’ expectations with a quality, on-time, and cost-effective product.The Engineering team will primarily work on DoD build to print programs. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for determining the most effective means for organizational use of capital, equipment, energy, facilities, information, material, people and other assets to make both products and services.

Responsibilities

Essential functions will include:

  • Work with cross-functional team to support Military build to print programs covering Missile Launch Systems, Electronic racks, Gunner mounts and other programs key to war fighter efforts.

  • Electrical system design, layout, integration, and test.

  • Development of engineering requirements, test plans and reports.

  • Competency with electronics prototyping, test, and analysis.

  • Knowledge of cable design.

  • Knowledge of electrical hardware design and printed circuit boards.

  • Testing and integrating hardware and software.

  • Involved in the specification and selection of electronic components.

  • Proficiency in electronic test equipment such as DMM, oscilloscope, high pot testers and vector network analyzers.

  • Developing and maintaining manufacturing planning documentation, including Bills of Material, production routers, work instructions, test instructions, shop process procedures, etc.

  • Researching and analyzing customer design proposals, specifications, manuals, and other data to evaluate the feasibility, cost, and maintenance requirements of designs or applications.

  • Training production and technician staff as required.

  • Troubleshooting and resolving production performance issues to resolution.

  • Manage engineering projects and deliver them on time.

  • Identifying, selecting, implementing, and maintaining manufacturing software and equipment to support production and Quality Management System requirements.

  • Supporting supplier sourcing efforts as required including activities such as supplier manufacturing capability assessment; production problem resolution; obsolescence mitigation; cost reduction and quality improvement efforts.

  • As an AS9100 certified company, adherence to our Quality Management System Processes and Procedures is paramount.

  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or similar field required

  • Five to ten (5 to 10) years of professional experience preferred

  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills

  • Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite to include Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Office365 SharePoint

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts.

  • Self-motivation to keep up with current electrical advances using new technologies.

  • Prior experience in Manufacturing for Government contracting is preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 15 to 20 pounds

  • Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time

  • Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: There are currently no security clearance requirements for this position; however, candidates must be able to successfully pass a background check. US Citizenship is a requirement at this location.
