This is an Machinist- A position with a company in Pascagoula, MS.

Summary: In a shop setting, the machinist fabricates and machines components such as machine shafts, rudder stocks, stern tubes, strut tubes, rudder tubes and small bearings, bushings and bolts.

Responsibilities: Sets up and operates various machines found in a machine shop environment. Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations and set up requirements. Measures, marks and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machining. Selects, aligns and secures work piece on machinery in which work it to be performed. Calculates and set controls to regulate machining factors. Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjust accordingly. Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications. May install machined replacement pars in mechanisms, machines and equipment and test operations of unit to ensure functionality and performance. May operate welding equipment to cut and weld parts. May develop specifications from general description and draw sketches of parts or products to be fabricated. May confer with engineers, production personnel, programmers or others to resolve machining or assembly problems.

Qualifications: Knowledge of machine shop equipment and their functions. A high school or vocational school education in machine shop, including mathematics, blueprint reading, metalworking and drafting or a minimum of three years experience in a machine shop environment.
