Are you a human resource professional ready to work as a leader within a small, collaborative team that enjoys working together? This job might be for you! The pay range for this position is $76,000-$85,000 depending on experience. We work a hybrid schedule: three days on-site to support our dental clinic staff and faculty, and two days remote. This position serves as a senior member of the team, leads operational initiatives that affect the entire school, and serves as an HR partner offering the full-range of HR expertise to their assigned departments. This position provides guidance and direction, establishes relationships and meets regularly with staff and faculty, and collaborates daily with HR team members. Here's what we do: Collaborate Include Partner Support Here's how we do it: Consistently Comprehensively Competently Compassionately Job Responsibilities Operations Management (30%) Lead initiatives and programs such as overall HR process improvement, annual performance review process, merit pay process, employee engagement, compensation and recruitment guides, in collaboration with the Director of Human Resources.; Share knowledge, provide technical guidance, and collaborate on problem solving as a senior member of the HR team; provide back up for human resources team members as needed. Supervise and provide work direction to the team's student worker, including recruitment as needed. Assist the Director with requests, initiatives, programs, developing policies and procedures and any other tasks assigned. Employee Relations and Performance Management (30%) Guide management and employees on complex HR issues, in collaboration with the HR Director. Provide operational support and direction for supervisors with a strategic approach: In the performance management process: Support the University of Minnesota's performance management philosophy, which includes goal setting, regular check ins, probationary and annual reviews. Guide supervisors on performance management solutions. On employee relations and labor relations: Lead employee relations investigations, which include thorough documentation, and providing possible recommendations for discipline up to and including termination of appointment, in collaboration with the HR Director or other campus partners. Create and complete action plans as appropriate. Provide contract interpretation for labor-represented employees and interpretation of university policy for all employee groups Coordinates communication with team members and management in the evaluation of disability accommodations, Equal Opportunity and Title IX, leaves of absence, and on the resolution of complex questions regarding policies, procedures, and HR issues. Research issues, gather and analyze data, consult with campus partners as needed, and provide recommendations. Partner with Department Administrative support and Department Chair on initiatives, projects, processes, etc. for the department. Recruiting, Hiring and Onboarding (30%) Advise, educate, and provide guidance to managers with: Job postings, recruiting, talent acquisition strategies, reviewing and interviewing of candidates, selection and offer of positions, pre-employment, and onboarding processes. Workforce planning, development of position descriptions, recruitment, compensa ion, reclassifications, and voluntary departures. Analyze salary information and make salary recommendations for job offers, reclassifications, and other pay adjustments. Serve on faculty search committees as the human resources representative. This includes: Ensuring consistency of each search; assessing and supporting compliance in recruiting, interviewing and referring of candidates for hire; Provide information and guidance to applicants and hiring managers regarding salary determination, startup packages, relocation and benefits. Training and Development (5%) Facilitate training and development for supervisors and employees on issues related to organizational efficiency, such as compliance with HR administration or process improvement efforts that involve organizational change. Present results of employee engagement surveys to department leadership and support them in action-planning. Oversee payroll processes (5%) Train, support, and closely collaborate with payroll team member who enters, audits, and maintains payroll for the School. Support payroll processes such as overpayments, retro and merit pay calculations and entry, interpretation of contracts in regards to payroll. Back up payroll team member. Work with the Director of Finance to enter UMP payments. Oversee WorkDay access and responsibilities. Qualifications Required Qualifications *Please detail all the required qualifications on your application materials * BA/BS degree plus at least four years of experience as a human resources generalist, or a combination of education and/or experience as a human resources generalist to equal at least eight years. About the Department The University of Minnesota School of Dentistry is the state's only dental school and the only dental school in the northern tier of states between Wisconsin and the Pacific Northwest. We are a regional resource to five states for dental education, consulting services, patient treatment, and ongoing continuing dental education. We educate dentists, dental specialists, dental therapists, dental hygienists, dental educators and research-scientists.
