JOB REQUIREMENTS: This position is located at the Clement J. Zablocki Medical Center in Milwaukee, WI. The incumbent functions as an Engineering Technician in the Facility Management Division. The purpose of the Engineering Technician position is to serve as staff specialist and agency project/program management for Non-Reoccurring Maintenance (NRM) construction projects during design and construction. Planning and direction of functions require application of a high degree of technical ability to make difficult determinations or find solutions in plumbing, water, civil, mechanical, electrical and architectural technical disciplines. Major Duties: Determines basic requirements, reconnaissance, location, and assists designers in the preparation of designs, specifications and construction estimates for Non-Reoccurring Maintenance (NRM) Construction Projects. Evaluates programs and projects to assure compliance with all environmental, energy use, safety and security standards. Participates in the negotiation pre-selection, and actively manages the design A-E contracts. Provides technical oversight and/or project management for construction or maintenance efforts. Performs scheduling and layout of operations, and inspection and surveillance of materials, methods, and equipment used in construction. Prepares detailed cost estimates for use in obtaining project funding and bid evaluation using standard procedures. Consults with contractor personnel to resolve unforeseen problems and latent conditions developing during construction. Prepares correspondence, technical reports, estimates, fact sheets, status reports, briefings and schedules as required to complete project assignments. Oversees, directs, or administers the development, production, and/or maintenance of materials, components, equipment, or other systems or sub-systems. Work Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday 7 AM-3:30 PM, may be required to be present to provide off-hours support for utility outages, maintenance and projects support, etc. This is not a virtual position and telework is not available.
