The Sr. HR Generalist provides human resources services, programs and initiatives for the Jesup Mill to achieve business objectives, improve organizational performance, and build employee value and job satisfaction. The Sr. HR Generalist is responsible for the timely completion of projects and assignments within the department and professional development to prepare him or her to advance to higher level professional or management roles within the HR team. Scope includes staffing and employment, recruiting, employee relations, labor relations, performance management and diversity programs.

How you’ll shape the future of the Jesup Human Resources Department:

  • Manage and coordinate recruiting with the RPO, including job postings, candidate screening and interviewing, assessments, background and reference checks, candidate evaluation, development of job offers and new employee orientation.

  • Manage and improve the hourly staffing and employment process. Track, monitor and audit manpower levels to ensure effective staffing levels are achieved.

  • Ensure compliance with state and federal employment regulations, such as ADA, FMLA and EEOC. Conduct investigations on complaints of discrimination, harassment, etc.

  • Assist with the administration and management of labor relations to include, but not limited to, investigations, terminations, and unemployment claims.

  • Assist with the development of diversity and inclusion programs, as necessary.

  • Ensure that Jesup Mill policies and practices are in compliance with all applicable employment laws and regulations, company HR policies and RYAM’s Code of Corporate Conduct and Standard of Ethics.

  • Manage the Grievance and Arbitration process and interface with union officials.

  • Conduct and document stay and exit interviews as needed.

  • Maintain and update the performance and development program for hourly employees including probationary employees.

  • Provide support and guidance to supervisors and managers on HR policies/practices, labor agreement interpretation, grievance process, employee relations, performance management and organizational issues.

  • Maintain relationships with appropriate high schools, technical colleges, and universities for work study, internship, and early career development programs.

  • Perform all other duties and be responsible for any additional assignments delegated by the HR Manager.

You’ll be someone who can bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, relevant discipline.

  • 5-8 years progressive human resources experience, minimum of three years in a unionized manufacturing environment required.

  • In-depth knowledge of employment law, HR practices and labor agreement administration.

  • Knowledge and skills in recruiting, selection, employee relations, organizational behavior, and human resources development.

  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills required

  • Workday and Kronos experience preferred
