Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to)

  • Review shipping notices, bills offloading, orders and other records and determine shipping propriety

  • Verify the shipping tickets and package labels all correspond to the proper destination

  • Count, weigh, measure and examine packaging and contents to ensure that they meet requirements

  • Perform daily quality control of equipment and properly record information under the supervision of a Inventory Manager

  • Work in a cold temperature environment (- 30 degree freezer)

  • Rotation of inventory and movement of products in designated area within the freezer

  • Receive and handle blood orders from other LifeSouth locations

  • Operate hand truck and pallet jack to move, convey or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Valid driver's license required. Must meet and maintain LifeSouth driver's eligibility requirements.

The employee must have a valid driver's license to drive their vehicle or a company vehicle to various worksite locations as required by the employer.

  • Ability to follow moderately complex oral and written instructions

  • Basic computer skills and experience with computer programs such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

  • Ability to organize and manage time effectively

  • Ability to Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

  • Excellent customer service skills

LifeSouth is a non-profit community blood bank serving more than 150 hospitals in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. We are committed to meeting the blood supply needs of hospitals and their patients by providing the highest quality blood components and services. With more than 45 donor centers, 55 bloodmobiles and 2,000 blood drives a month, our LifeSouth team is dedicated to making sure the blood is there when you or your family is in need.

To provide a safe blood supply that meets or exceeds the needs in each community we serve, and to provide a variety of services in support of ongoing and emerging blood and transfusion related activities.
