ITW Electrician II (manufacturing) in Fort Worth, Texas

*SUMMARY *

Maintains and installs electrical systems and services, as well as production equipment, in a commercial manufacturing environment. Also performs minor electrical maintenance, repairs of plant production equipment and commercial building.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follows all company safety rules and policies

  • Installs and/or repairs wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, and components of machinery and equipment

  • Repairs and/or installs motors, relays, switches, thermostats, circuit-breaker, and panels etc.

  • Diagnoses and resolves problems in electrical circuits, systems and equipment using testing instruments.

  • Measure, cut, bend, thread pipe, and install electrical conduit using various measuring instruments, i.e. tape measure or ruler

  • Tests the continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using various testing instruments

  • Receive and completes work orders in a timely matter

  • Maintains accurate records of material and labor used

  • Maintains records of repairs, preventative maintenance, calibrations, and tests

  • Maintains inventory of company-owned tools, equipment, and materials

  • Keeps supplies and parts in order. Keep Toolboxes cleaned and organized at all times

  • Reports electrical issues that are not up to code and propose solutions

  • Creates material lists and quote costs for electrical projects

  • Travels between facilities. Valid driver’s license required to operate company vehicles

  • May provide ground watch for other maintenance employees using aerial equipment

  • Responds to power outages and electrical emergencies

  • May be required to assist with spill response clean-up

  • May be required to train other maintenance employees

  • Assists with all other facilities or maintenance duties as assigned, including but not limited to: hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, plumbing and restroom repairs, light carpentry, office moves and repairs, and production equipment installations and/or relocations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Journeyman Electrician License required; Master Electrician preferred

  • Five or more years of experience in an electrical field required

  • Keen awareness of electrical safety and electricity’s potential hazards

  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, wire diagrams and written reference material

  • Knowledge of and ability to follow electrical code, manuals, specifications, and logic ladder PLC

  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations

  • Ability to diagnose and resolve electrical problems

  • Must communicate clearly in English, both verbal and written, bi-lingual a plus

  • Ability to create job material lists and provide quotes

  • Must possess computer skills, including email, and work order system

  • Ability to get certified and maintain certification for forklift operation

  • Ability to get certified and maintain certification for aerial lift operation

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain First Aid / CPR Training

  • Ability and willingness to respond to after hour emergencies

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and projects

  • Must be a self-starter with a sense of urgency

  • Must be able to determine Root Cause Analysis for all repairs

  • Must maintain Electrical License annually

  • Ability to follow direction

  • Must work well with Operations and Maintenance co-workers

  • Good attitude and eager to learn

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Attend work regularly and report promptly for duty on the days / times scheduled by the supervisor

  • Schedule changes occur and should be handled in a productive manner

  • Work in environmental conditions of plant which involves temperatures that may vary widely with seasonal changes and able to work in climate-controlled environment where available

  • Work occasionally outdoors in temperatures ranging from hot to cold and exposed to rain and wind

  • Sit, stand, climb, walk, and crawl for a combined minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) hours per day on a concrete surface

  • Lift and carry components, tools, or other items weighing more than 35 pounds. Any item over 35 pounds, is to be done with assistance

  • Pull and push up to 100 pounds

  • May perform combination of physical movements to reach areas difficult to access including bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, twisting and rotation motions using head/neck, arms, wrists, waist, knees, and arms while performing duties

  • Handle small hand tools and power tools. Handling may be done unilaterally (one-handed) or bilaterally (two-handed) depending on size and shape of object and task being performed

  • Need corrected vision to be aware of surroundings and location of items needed and perform various other job duties

  • Need corrected hearing to identify conditions in the environment (i.e. forklift horns, fire alarms)

  • Need mental alertness to identify, avoid, or resolve safety hazards

  • Ability to communicate with supervisors and co-workers

  • Ability to wear designated personal protective equipment for the work assignment (i.e. safety glasses, protective gloves, hearing protection, cut resistant sleeves, harnesses, electrically rated footwear, and Arc flash suits)

  • Must be able to perform job duties at elevated levels (ie with use of aerial lift equipment)

Hours of Work

Monday – Friday – 6:00am to 2:30pm and OT when required
