Anoka County Nutrition Educator (Hybrid) in Anoka, Minnesota

Position Description Our commitment to the community shines in the Public Health and Environmental Services Department at Anoka County and we currently have an opening for a WIC Nutrition Educator. This position determines the eligibility for the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) applicants, conducts the elements of health screenings and dietary evaluations, assists in the development and implementation of nutrition education plans, provides nutrition counseling, and analyzes nutritional needs and the effectiveness of the nutritional delivery program. This is a full-time, non-exempt, hybrid position. Interviews will take place the week of May 20th, 2024 for those selected to move forward in the hiring process. Pay & Benefits Salary: $54,017 to $63,460 annually ($25.97 to $30.51 per hour). 2024 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 30: $54,017 to $72,904 ($25.97 to $35.05 per hour). 24 days of paid flexible time off and up to 12.5 paid holidays. Work Location This position will work out of both the Anoka County Government Center, 2100 3rd Ave, Anoka, MN 55303, and the Blaine Human Services Center, 1201 89th Ave NE, Blaine, MN 55434. This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work, with some days working remotely and some days working in the office. Expected work hours are Monday - Friday 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM with occasional evening hours. Job Duties and Responsibilities These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County WIC Nutrition Educator. Evaluate applicant's nutrient intake and health status in consideration of medical data. Provide appropriate nutrition education and documents applicant's clinical evaluation. Prescribe a supplemental food package using WIC guidelines and regulations. Develop a nutrition care plan for WIC participants. Screen potential WIC participants for eligibility by reviewing applicant's finances, residency, age, and status. Screen and refers WIC participants for continuing health care, social services, medical and nutritional needs. Participate in Emergency Preparedness and Response activities. Qualifications and Requirements: Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed Bachelor's degree in nutritional sciences, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, or dietetics. OR Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist (RDN)ORNutrition and Dietetic Technician, Registered (NDTR) - registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR). OR Bachelor's degree, or higher, in health or home economics with applicable coursework in nutrition. Unofficial transcript documentation required for minimum coursework evaluation. In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. AND Must possess a valid driver's license and have a vehicle available for business use. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed Master's degree, or higher, in nutritional sciences, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, or dietetics. One year (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience working with Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC). Bilingual and/or established communication skills in Spanish, Russian, Arabic, Sign Language and/or other languages in addition to English. Physical Demands and Work Conditions Standard office environment Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs. Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed.
