Job Summary:

We are seeking a Senior Hardware Quality Engineer with hands-on hardware quality experience to become a key part of Operations Quality – Advanced Electronic Assembly Team. Here at Raytheon, our Operations Quality Team assures product and process quality with an emphasis on Product Compliance, Customer Satisfaction and Continuous Improvement.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Baseline factory metrics (Scrap, Rework, FPY, etc.), identify top drivers, forecast future demand for top drivers and identify areas of opportunity for improvement.

  • Engage MFG DPT teams to ensure alignment on top priorities (using baseline data and future forecast) to drive containment, Root Cause Analysis and associated Corrective Action Implementation.

  • Perform process walks, operator observations, and lead MFG team discussions to drive process enhancements to reduce variation.

  • Lead/Drive Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) initiatives (PFMEA, control Plans, SPC, etc.) using baseline metrics and future demand.

  • Identify supplier escapes/issues and ensure proper containment and backflow to the Supplier Quality Management team.

  • Perform verification and validation of improvements to understand effectiveness.

Required Skills:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or other technical field of study, and a minimum of five (5) years related Quality Engineering experience or MS degree (STEM) and 3 years of experience

  • Manufacturing process experience in one of the following: (assembly, inspection, or test)

  • Previous experience managing cross functional process improvement teams with technical expertise.

  • Experience in identifying root cause and initiating/implementing effective short-term and long-term corrective actions

  • Experience in development/usage of Quality metrics that may be used to drive true root cause and long-term corrective action, and in the identification/institution of perceptive verifications.

  • Experience with industry technical standards, interpreting drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials (BOMs), consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of key process characteristics and ability to implement effective process control techniques.

  • Strong familiarity with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 quality management systems

  • Six Sigma, ASQ Certifications

  • Proficient in the use of pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping

  • Able to facilitate cross-functional teams in systematic improvement activities (e.g. 6-sigma, lean manufacturing)

  • Existing US DoD Secret (or higher) clearance

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
